Pista movie review telugu 2009

Cast: Vishal, Shriya, Prakash Raj, Tanikella Bharani, Dharmavarapu, M.S. Narayana, Ali, ‘Telangana’ Shakuntala, Geetha, Surya, Annapurna, Rallapally, Shiyaji Shinde etc.,
Dialogues: Shasank
Choreography: Dinesh
Art: Velu, Prakash
Editing: Vijayan
Director of Photography: Piyan
Music: Mani Sharma
Fights: ‘Stun’ Shiva
Lyrics: Sahiti, Anantha Sriram
Producer: Vikram Krishna
Story, Screenplay & Direction: Saba Iyappan

What is about : Murali Krishna (Vishal), promises his mother (Geetha) that he will bring back her elder son who runs away from the house in his childhood. He comes to the city searching for his brother. There he lives with Chittibabu (Ali) and incidentally involves in the fight between two local gangsters, led by Surya Prakash (Prakash Raj) and Guru (Kishore), in the city. As usual he fells in love with Indu (Shriya), a typical city girl who works in an office. CM (C. Murali Krishna) finds his brother right at the spot when he is under attack by Guru. Rest of the story continues how he saves his brother amidst of the attacks on him in the city. There is a huge twist just before the interval. What is it? Is Surya Prakash the brother of Murali Krishna? Did he finally keep the promise made to his mother?

Technical details: Vishal appears in, as usual, mass role where his character demands more action and mass/rough look than a romantic lovely hero. Dialogue delivery needs to be improved on. Shriya fits perfect in a typical telugu movie for three romantic scenes and four duets. Prakash Raj, with his natural performance attracts audience appraisal.Whole film he appears in single black shirt. Kishore as Guru is OK. M.S. Narayana, Ali, Dharmavarapu, Tanikella, ‘Telangana’ Shakuntala, Shiyaji, Geetha, Annapurna are apt in their limited roles. Pictiorisation is appreciable. Choreographic values are good. Impressive steps. Music fails to be a hit. Mani Sharma with his natural mass music is OK. Lyrics are OK, “Naa Maharaani Nuvve” is hummable. Producer, Vikram Krishna, maintained good Production values, much concentrated on songs than movie. Debutant director Saba Iyappan has a bright future in techincal department. He need the same in story department to make it big. Narration is good. Movie name lacks justification.

Set Backs: Many side track comedies and deviations in the “DULL” story line.
Notable Scenes/Dialogues:
ØPrakash Raj: kaTTini dimpithene daaniki daaniki gAUravam satruvuni champithene
naaku gAUravam
ØRallapally: enda-annaaka tagaladam kunda-annaaka pagaladam maamule
ØAli: naaru posinappudu neeru poYYali.
paatha friends kalisinappudu mandu poYYali.
ØVishal: aathreya oka uppena veturi a samudram
ØAli: mari sirivella evaru?? Chali vendrama?
Ø Vishal: BHaya pade vaadiki thadu kuda paamu laage
kanipisthundhi BHaya pette vaadini chuusthe yamudi
ki kuda dhada kaluguthundhi

Bottom Line: On a whole Pistha is a just a regular film. with nothing new to offer. Good techincal and production values. Vishal rocks in fights. Shirya limited for skinshow.
